Control a loaded cylinder

Follow these steps in the workbench. Pause playback or slow it down whenever you want a closer look.

  1. Open the cylinder lift example. CY1 is a 63/36 mm cylinder with 400 mm stroke, initially extended 40 mm.
  2. Run simulation. Choose Position and CY1 in the scope; extension reaches 400 mm near 3 seconds.
  3. Choose Pressure and P1. Once the piston reaches its stop, the relief valve receives pump flow and pressure rises to about 121.6 bar.
  4. Use Manual valves above the drawing to select Extend, Neutral or Retract during playback. The position stays selected; replay retains the valve actions. Try the unloaded tandem-center example for a complete extend–hold–retract sequence. This loaded lift can predict cavitation on retraction and reject the change.
  5. Try Sizing → Cylinder. Compare ideal force and speed with the simulated load and viscous resistance.

The checklist records your learning progress. It is not an engineering acceptance test.
